Typically this method of coring is conducted to analyze long sections of gas bearing shale's, heavy oil sands and coal bed methane formations. It is also effective for quickly bringing core to surface to preserve it in near-natural state.
Wireline coring provides for an unlimited number of core retrievals of up to 9 meters per run.
